I had the same question until I went to the Kinzua Bridge State Park. I had no idea this place existed until I stayed at the Bradford KOA. This is 339-acre state park located near Mount Jewitt in Mckean County, PA. Sits nestled between Route 6 and Route 59. The Viaduct was once the longest and tallest railroad structure, measuring in at 2,053 feet long and 301 feet high.

This place is breathtaking and awe inspiring to say the least. It was beautiful as shown here, but the wreckage is something you cannot explain on paper, unless you have photos. I took many photos; however, I left them out due to my children's privacy.
After walking along the rails, the trails that lead to the bottom, and up to the wreckage, you can also enjoy the museum, playground, and picnic area. The day that I went to Kinzua State Park the museum portion was closed. We did enjoy a beautiful picnic and played on the train shaped playground.
Next time I visit I plan to go when the museum is open, and I can see more that they have to offer. In the meantime, if you visit, please share your experience with me! Every visit will be different and unique, and I enjoy hearing other stories! If you are interested in traveling to this area and staying, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to help with that booking! As always happy exploring!
