We spend a lot of time hiking and a lot of time in Erie; therefore, we have visited a lot of places around the city and lake of Erie PA. The place detailed in this post is Erie Bluff State Park located at 11222 W Lake Road, Lake City, PA. A 587-acre park spanning Girard and Springfield townships in Erie County, Pa, this park includes 5.16 miles of trails spanning open fields, woodlands, and lakeside views. Established in 2004, the park is one the newest state parks in Pennsylvania.

At the start of the hike, we came across beautiful flowers, wonderous butterflies, unique feathers, delicious black cap berries, white as snow mushrooms, and too many species of animals to name. We met many wonderful hikers out, some with dogs, and some just taking a leisurely Sunday walk through the trails.

The path was easy to manage, my children had no issues navigating the path, however we did get a little off track while trying to navigate the various trails available at the park. Eventually we made it out to the water edge, and it was a beautiful view.

All around the hike took 2 hours from our car to the Lake Erie view and was worth every minute. We explored some more trails, found a picnic area, and ate some snacks while listening to the bird's chirp. There are around 80 bird species here for those looking to bird watch. 92 species of fungi and mushrooms have been located here for anyone interested in foraging, medicinal purposes such as tonics and for eating. (Please be aware of what you are picking before eating them. Many are poisonous) After leaving the hike, on the way back to Erie, we stumbled upon a neat place called Lake Erie Community Park. This place was incredible with pavilions for rent, a huge playground, and the same incredible view from Erie Bluffs. We spent some time playing before a wedding party descended into the pavilion and I decided to give them some privacy.
