Having 2 young children, and enjoying the wonder of Christmas myself, I try to fit in as many Light shows as possible. This year is no exception and I think the Stonehedge Golf Course in Tunkhannock, PA knocked it out of the course! The festival of lights at this course were right on par. Let me start by giving you some details about this drive thru light feature. Located at 55 Stone Hedge Drive, Tunkhannock, PA, this $35 drive thru show was spectacular! Every year they change the light display, adding, rearranging, and transforming the course with millions of brightly colored lights.
After driving past Dr Suess, the Grinch who Stole Christmas, we passed a train bridge, many buildings, Santa golfing and arrived at Disney World! Disney Cars from Radiator Springs followed up Disney Toy Story from Andy's toybox. We passed by a dinosaur land that was a bit lacking. It did have a handful of Dinos and a volcano. A little further down we came across the minions from Despicable Me. Had some fun naming the planets from Mercury to Neptune. The kids were giddy with laughter as the ski jumper went right over the cars!
After the ski jumper, we came down the hill to the Wonderful Wizard of OZ! They had Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Dorthy, Toto, Glendora, Emerald City, and of course OZ himself! After leaving the rainbow, we went through candy cane lane with gingerbread everywhere! Followed up by a gnome flower garden, the 12 days of Christmas (unpictured), a kayaker going down an amazing bright blue river was another fan favorite. The Peanuts ice skating with Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and Patty. We finished the bend with a wild west town complete with horse drawn buggy, farm outside town, and a blacksmith. The next bend was sea creatures with an appearance of Peppa Pig. This section was incredible with many animals on each side of the road.
Our next bend was Paw Patrol, including Chase, Ryder, Marshall, Skye and the more. We came across Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails, all racing to the famous golden rings. Took a drive through Sesame Street, waving at Cookie Monster, Elmo, Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch and Abby. Joked with Bert and Ernie about the missing rubber ducky and had a fun time counting with the count.
We paid a tribute to our leading lady, the Statue of Liberty with her wonderous flag flowing in the background. Our soldiers stood at attention and were ready for the command of Santa in the helicopter.
We finished our tour with old characters including the Jetson's, Flintstones, Tom and Jerry, Road Runner, Yogi Bear, Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Betty Boop, and Winnie the Pooh. All great shows to introduce to my children. After driving though this 45-minute display, we followed up with fire roasted smores, hot cocoa and some amazing photo opportunities. There is no way to show everything we saw at this Festival of Lights, but I hope this will inspire you to get out and go see the light show! Looking to travel to Tunkhannock, feel free to contact me and I will book your hotel, flight, car, and anything you need. If you visit yourself, please share your experience, as no two drives will be the same! Enjoy your holiday season!
